Built in 1891, this building has stood the test of time. Our subject concerns the 3rd floor of the building, for which it is necessary to rethink the common spaces as well as its private parts in order to restore it to its nobility, while adapting it to new domestic uses, linked in particular to the digitization of the world and its acceleration.
If the building has all the classic characteristics of a Parisian mansion, it is however devoid of decoration following its use as an office. Our proposal aims to make this apartment a special place in the heart of Paris by playing on the contrast between the age of the building and the cachet of contemporary renovation. This building has the particularity of embodying French charm. Located in the heart of the "City of Light", city of escape and dreams, it seemed obvious to us to work on a strong concept based around refinement and femininity by juxtaposing classicism and contemporary, and thus mixing all the poetry of elements of the past and contemporary dazzling.
This apartment will offer rich and sober textures, matt and shiny surfaces, elements of the past and minimalist volumes. This dialogue therefore allows us to play with spaces with balance, while bringing movement and dynamism to them through the intervention of materials that come into opposition with the existing. An architectural harmony is thus created by these added elements which, in plan as in elevation, serve spaces to make them more flexible and bring an artistic dimension. Our project proposes to transform this “sleeping” apartment into a unique and surprising place.
